Barbara Ann Corcoran
Barbara Ann Corcoran (born March 10 1949) is an American businesswoman investor and speaker. She is also a consultant, speaker writer, syndicated columnist, TV personality, author and author. The Corcoran Group was a New York City real estate brokerage that she started. NRT purchased it for $66 million in 2001. Corcoran later left the company. Corcoran is among ABC's initial Shark Tank investors. To date, she has been in each seasons of Shark Tank. Corcoran has been involved in 53 deals as of February 2020. The most significant was a $350,000 investment to provide 40 percent of Coverplay. Corcoran was the second of 10 kids born to a working class Irish-Catholic couple located in Edgewater, New Jersey. Her mother, Florence, was a household worker. Edwin W. Corcoran Jr. was her father during Corcoran's early years. At times, her family relied on the delivery of free food from a local grocery store. Corcoran is still able to remember her father as someone who would drink often and did not treat her mother with respect. Corcoran was a struggling pupil throughout her schooling. Corcoran later found out that she was dyslexic. Corcoran was a student at the local Catholic elementary school before beginning the high school system at St. Cecilia High School in Englewood. After failing several courses in her first year, Corcoran transferred to Leonia High School in Leonia, where she received a grade of D.
